Andy Conklin Visual Arts Scholarship

The Andy Conklin Visual Arts Scholarship Program was established to help graduating high school seniors from the Arts Alive service areas of the Town of West Point, and the counties of King William, New Kent, and King and Queen who wish to earn a degree in studio arts, art history, or art education. 

 

Arts Alive, Inc. will award one scholarship for $1000 to a student enrolled in an accredited college or university for the 2012-2013 academic year as a full-time student taking 12 credit hours or more.   The scholarship may not exceed the cost of education billed by the school. Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the educational institution, and must be used in the year in which it is granted.

 

Applicants must have been accepted into a college or university with an arts program, and the applicant must plan to obtain a degree in studio art, art education, or art history to apply. Applicants will be evaluated on the following categories:

 

• Interview and quality of art submitted

• Recommendations

• Application

• Statement of intent

• Written analysis

 

Completed application, statement of intent, written analysis and transcript must be received by Arts Alive, Inc. by 5 PM on April 27, 2012.  Interviews will be held on May 20, 2012 between 1 and 5 PM at West Point High School.
