Carol Welsman
Carol Welsman is an internationally acclaimed singer and pianist whose expressive vocal styling and dynamic stage presence have captivated audiences around the world. She has sold over 60,000 CDs in Canada alone, something few jazz artists in Canada have experienced.
With nominations for "Best Vocalist" and "Best Original Composition" at the new Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards (April 2005) and plans to release a sixth jazz album in Canada and the US, Carol is cruising her way into a stellar 2005.
Fluent in French and Italian in addition to her native English, Carol blends languages and rythms with a versatile repertoire including swing, Latin, R & B, pop and jazz. She delivers a mix of great standards and original compositions in a style that ranges from sensuous and warm to infectiously energetic. An elegant and sophisticated performer, this six foot strawberry blonde beauty exudes confidence and charm and delights fellow musicians and audiences alike.
Carol has performed "Swing Ladies, Swing" show with several North American Pops Symphony orchestras. She has also performed at events attended by the likes of President Bill Clinton and legendary songwriters Stevie Wonder and Gordon Lightfoot.
With four Juno Award nominations, two CDN Smooth Jazz Awards nominations, a 2003 Distinguished Alumni Award from Boston's Berklee College of Music, and the 2002 Vocalist of the Year award (National Jazz Awards), audiences and fellow musicians agree, Carol is an extraordinarily talented musician and one of Canada's finest vocalist and pianists.
